Our 52 Weeks of Adventure, Part 2

It’s Week 26 of 2018, folks! Kevin and I have now done 19 weeks of Outdoor Project’s 52 Weeks of Adventure in total. While we’re now at the halfway point of the year, we’re just under halfway done with the challenge, which isn’t bad at all. We’ve made up a lot of ground; we doubled the amount of adventures in Part 2 compared to Part 1! So here’s what we’ve been up to in the past 3-ish months.

Week 8: Wilderness Area – We spent some time in CT checking out the Barn Island Wildlife Management Area.

Week 10: Give Back – We stayed in NH for this one and volunteered a few hours for the local food bank. And we intend to do that again!

Week 12: Another State – We had yet to visit RI for any reason, and we covered a couple other adventures while we were there.

Week 13: Sunrise/Sunset – We took a trip to Acadia National Park in ME, which helped with achieving multiple weeks of adventure in one weekend. We viewed sunrise and sunset from the summit of Cadillac Mountain.

Week 14: State Park – We discovered that Bear Brook State Park was really close to home and spent most of a day there.

Week 15: National Park – Acadia is the closest national park to us. It was awesome to camp and hike there as well as visit Bar Harbor.

Week 16: National Landmarks – One of the reasons we found ourselves in RI was to tour the Newport Mansions, and they were pretty amazing.

Week 17: Wildflowers – Our hike up to the Red Hill Fire Tower here in NH provided so many colorful flowers to enjoy!

Week 23: A Night in the Woods – During our trip to Acadia, we stayed at the Seawall Campground, so we actually had a couple of nights in the woods.

Week 25: Meadows – Also during our trek to the fire tower. Those wildflowers weren’t just lining up and down the trail.

Week 29: Island – On our last day in Acadia, we found Barred Island, which is a really cool preserve that we got to walk through and around.

Week 41: Historical Sites – As we were on our way to Newport, we took a tour of Slater Mill, an old textile mill.

Week 50: Marine Life – We went to Napatree Point in RI, and it’s normally a wildlife conservation for birds. However, this is where Kevin and I both saw horseshoe crabs for the first time, and they are insane!

Well, that’s it for now! See you all for Part 3!!
